Vinyl plank flooring has been found to be toxic to humans. Researchers have found that children living in homes with vinyl flooring and sofas treated with fire retardant chemicals show increased levels of certain toxic chemicals. These chemicals have been associated with serious health issues, including respiratory problems, neurological issues, skin irritation, and cancer.

Incinerated vinyl produces polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), dioxins, and other toxic chemicals. It can produce polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), especially at higher temperatures.

Please be careful of Volatile Organic Compounds or VOC which has high vapor pressure that can affect human health. Look up the materials that you buy, including building products, smoking, cleaning and personal care products. Doing some research might help alleviate our kids’ sensitivities that are making them miserable.
